Obituary

Donald Rockwell

Donald Alyn Rockwell, 94, of

Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peaceful-

ly on Monday morning, April 6, 2026, at

Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa,

Iowa.

Donald Alyn Rockwell was born on

October 7, 1931, in Jackson County, Iowa,

to Glenn and Geraldine (Parmer) Rockwell.

He attended New Castle Country School

through the 8th

grade and then

went to adult

evening classes

graduating with

the Andrew High

School Class of

1969.

He married

Wanda Lee

Garretson on June

3, 1951, at the

Garretson Family

Farm in rural

Jackson County.

Four children

were born to this

union, Sharon

Lee, Lynne Ann,

Donald Wayne,

and Warren

DONALD

ROCKWELL

Glenn.

Shortly after his marriage, he was draft-

ed into the U.S. Army. He served his coun-

try during the Korean Conflict from April

16, 1953, to April 5, 1955, receiving an

honorable discharge. Upon returning home

from serving his country, he worked at

Harrington Appliance Store for two years.

He then farmed with his wife Wanda north

of Maquoketa until retirement.

Donald was a member of the Community

of Christ Church (formerly known as

the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ

of Latter-Day Saints), NRA, and the

Maquoketa Valley Rifle Club. He enjoyed

farming, shooting firearms, traveling to

the western states, and flying. He had

owned a plane for over 15 years.

Those left to honor his memory include

a son, Warren Rockwell of Maquoketa,

IA; 5 grandchildren, Kristina (Ryan) Ihrig,

Tyler (Hali) Rockwell, Dustin (Jenn)

Derganz, Cody (Cadie) Rockwell, and

briefly Agatha Derganz; 11 great-grandchildren;

and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his par-

ents, his wife Wanda on January 15, 2026,

three children, Lynne Rockwell, Sharon

Derganz, and Donald Wayne Rockwell,

brothers Carlyle and Jim, and a sister Reta

Blizek.

A joint celebration of life service honor-

ing Donald and Wanda will be held at 11

a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Carson

Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.

Visitation will be held prior to the funeral

from 9:30 a.m. until service time. A pri-

vate family burial will be held at Sutton

Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy,

a Donald Alyn and Wanda Lee Rockwell

memorial fund has been established.
